1st XI

Stafford’s crucial fixture at home to Norton at Riverway on Saturday ended in a high scoring draw on another good batting surface. Stafford were always facing an uphill task after Norton batting first hit 257-6 from their 55 overs. Matt Rogalski 50 Alex Graham 60 and professional Simon Kellett 56 not out were the main contributors as Oliver Stark chipped in with 3-71 for Stafford. New skipper Mark Smallman would have been pleased with his sides efforts with the bat though in reply as they
hit 200-7 from 63 overs to comfortably secure the draw. Stark’s 56 got them off to a good start before Guy Seaton saw them through with a classy 78 not out despite Norton’s Ian Reynolds claiming 4-45. Stafford remain in the relegation spots but will be looking to build on this performance when they visit Cheadle on Saturday another side who are in the lower half of the Division One table.
