Monday, July 12th, 20101st XI
Stafford remain in the bottom two of Division One of the NSSCL after a heavy defeat at Cheadle. To their credit they battled hard and nearly got a draw but lost their final wicket with 2 overs to go. Cheadle batted first hitting 251 for 6 declared with Andrew Shaw hitting 78. The recalled Sean Connolly picked up 4-104 for Stafford in a long spell. In their reply they were eventually dismissed for 149. Top scorers were Joe Askey 27 and Mark Foster 26 in a disappointing effort. Stafford travel to Betley this Saturday hoping for improvements.
2nd XI
The second string also lost out to Cheadle in a close game at Riverway. Skipper Mark Evans led from the front blasting 124, he was ably supported by wicketkeeper Ian Young’s 40 in Stafford’s 235 for 9. Cheadle in reply reached the target in the last over closing on 238 for 4 with Danny Brunt 82 not out the hero. Stafford are in action at home again on Saturday against Betley 1-30pm start at Riverway.
3rd XI
In the stone league Division One Stafford’s thirds dominated on their trip to Oakamoor but has to settle for a winning draw. Batting first Stafford hit an impressive 280-7. Bala Sabapathy 62 top scored and others all chipped in notably Chris Dobson 41, Ryan Angus 39, Iain Atherton 39 and Ritchie Dutta 35. In reply Oakamoor settled for the draw closing on 133-7 Noaman Masoud 3-17 was tidy with the ball for the visitors.
4th XI
At Riverway Stafford’s fourths lost out in a local derby against Church Eaton’s seconds. The visitors hit 229 all out David Halley 53 top scored as Ryan Finlay 4-70 and James Wild 3-18 did well with the ball. Stafford in reply were shot out for 140 by Andy Richards 5-53, Bob Singh and new boy James Graham both hit 34 and Joe Mantle 30 but it was not enough for the home side.
